Volunteering with the Center for Positive Aging

Statewide, 10% of the total population of Georgia is over the age of 65. Between 1990 and 2000, the population over age 65 in the ten county metropolitan area of Atlanta alone increased by 30%. According to projected census, Georgia is getting older faster than the overall United States. By the year 2030, one in five residents will be over the age of 60. There is a silent number here too: the increase in caregivers for aging parents and family members. Our community needs support. The Center for Positive Aging answers the call of our changing population.

As a volunteer with the Center for Positive Aging, you can help us with our mission. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Helping to direct seniors, their families and caregivers to the resources they need by contacting providers of housing and services for older adults and explaining the mission of the Center
  • Working with trained Positive Aging lifestyles (PALS) facilitators in senior housing, day care facilities and senior centers to assist with educating elders and promoting an ageless mind, ageless body and ageless spirit
  • Assisting with office clerical duties, mailings, and special projects
  • Helping us maintain communication with our Quality providers

Please call Holly Beauchamp at 404-872-9191 ext. 11 or email hbeauchamp@agingservicesga.org if you would like to volunteer for a few hours, a few days, or set up a schedule to work with us on a regular basis.
