Positive Aging Lifestyles (PALS)

The Center for Positive Aging’s PALS program builds on a social platform of interaction and guided discussion to develop a network among participants. Mental and sometimes physical exercises serve to educate by participation on how to make positive changes in life, giving participants a basis to believe they can deny the stereotype of aging, and encouraging participants to develop the inner strength to combat depression and the loss of feeling useful.

Not only does PALS provide excellent tools for adopting a healthier lifestyle, but it also serves as a fantastic gateway to connect with seniors in your local community. PALS can be offered to a variety of groups and networks, such as congregations, senior centers, local businesses and senior living communities.  The Center for Positive Aging will hold several day-long train-the-trainer PALS workshops throughout the year.  These events will include completion of all exercises in the program, an open discussion about various applications, training on how to handle questions and other possible group problems and dynamics including how to stimulate appropriate responses and use time effectively, and availability of all of the tools and training manuals necessary to facilitate the PALS program.
